Work started on new extension project in Strathaven this week. Just digging foundations just now. The project involves some internal remodelling and a new zinc clad extension providing a new kitchen/dining/living area in a courtyard like arrangement.

While in paris earlier this year I picked up a journal which had examples of house renovations and extensions from many different regions. The range of designs impressed me and made me think about how uninspiring the majority of extensions are that can be found in Scotland. There are good examples out there, however, the number of innovative designs both in urban and rural settings featured in the French Publication (I will dig it out and post what it was) seemed to be much more extensive than can be found in Scotland.

I have some concerns over the extension above as there have been some cost savngs that may effect the final appearance but these are seen as a necessity in order to meet the budget by the client, however, the main feature of the zinc cladding has survived!

Progress photos will follow.
